Anders Wahlstedt Fine Art is pleased to present Bees, an exhibition of twelve prints by Graham Sutherland. The joint publication between Marlborough Fine Art and 2RC Editrice was printed in 1977. Intricate etching and aquatint compositions presented in gilded frames zoom in on the dramatic lifecycle of bees. Curiosities of the natural world were of primary interest to Sutherland, and he repeatedly turned to themes of plants and animals in his practice. This series highlights the relationships between the queen, the workers, and the drones within the hive. Additionally, the fundamental and mutual dance between bees and flowers captures Sutherland’s attention in several of the prints.
